UNVEILINGS
An unveiling is a service of commemoration, as well as a formal way of dedicating a monument. The unveiling service is held after the monument is set at the gravesite and after a second inscription on a double monument has been completed.

MONUMENTS
Riverside Cemetery follows the style of a traditional Jewish Cemetery. Within these parameters, there is an expansive and creative variety of designs for monuments. From the simplest footstone, to ornate family headstones, to organizational gates and obelisks, to benches upon which one can reflect and rest, all of these can be, literally, monuments to the lives of those buried here. Many stones in our cemetery show a depth and passion of the interests and the lives of their loved ones, and we encourage our Riverside families to give care and thought to choosing a lasting and tasteful testament to their loved one’s legacy.

Our monument services include installing a concrete foundation (required for all monuments after a 9-month waiting period, monument leveling and cleaning. Newly installed monuments are maintained level for 10 years. Perpetual Care contracts include cleaning and leveling in perpetuity.

New Jersey law prohibits cemeteries from selling monuments or making inscriptions on monuments. However, a listing of area monument dealers can be found here.
